Chris Cruze


Chris has been involved in Martial Arts since he was 6 years old. Starting with Judo at the famous Brian Jacks Academy, moving on to Karate, and then Kickboxing at various schools
throughout South London, gaining 2 years of competitive experience. Chris then competed in gymnastics which focused his particular interest in Strength & Conditioning, soon realising
it’s importance for combat athletes.

Working alongside some of the top coaches & athletes in the country in disciplines such as Muay Thai, Olympic Lifting, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Athletics, Chris realised he wanted to
not only work with competitive athletes but to also help those who were not confident, fit or athletic when it came to exercise, fitness and Martial Arts.
“Exercise really is for everyone, young, old, the weak, the strong. It just comes down to being confident enough to perform the correct technique without risk of injury and
to understand that achieving your goals and improving your health won’t happen over night. It won’t be easy but it will be worth it”.

In 2008 Chris joined London Sitnarong and trained Muay Thai under Kru Cliff Bura, he also trained BJJ there for the first time with Alan Finfou and was immediately hooked.
Years later Cliff set up the well known Diesel Gym in Limehouse where Chris trained MMA and NO GI with world champion Leo Negao. Whilst continuing with Muay Thai Chris studied various
S&C courses, sports performance diplomas and affiliated with British Weight Lifting, UKSCA MOD and then moved on to training the fighters at Diesel gym.

Working with combat athletes Chris felt it was important to get in the ring/cage himself even tho he had no aspirations to become a career fighter. “I’ll leave that to the tough guys!
But rather than just telling the fighters how they needed to train to win fights and improve physically, I believed it was important to know what it felt like to perform under
the same conditions as the athletes I was coaching”.

Chris has years of experience competing in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and NoGI grappling competitions, winning numerous gold, silver and bronze medals along the way, including
winning gold at the British Open in 2012, IBJJF London International, Brighton Open, Bournemouth Open, Surrey Open and Seni International at the Excel Arena to name a few. He
also has semi-pro MMA and amateur kick boxing experience.

He is a Purple belt in BJJ under Steve O’Keeffe who he has known for over 10 years, since 2010 they have worked together at Fight for Peace Academy in East London,
coaching BJJ and MMA and providing boxing and fitness to secondary school children throughout schools in the London Borough of Newham. Chris has been the Head Strength & Conditioning
Coach at FFP for over 4 years, training amateur and pro athletes during their fight camps.
They have also helped to coach two of their students at FFP from complete beginners to being ranked number 1 in their respective divisions in the UK Amatuer MMA rankings.

Qualifications & Key Info; British Weightlifting Assoc(BWLA), UKSCA mod, OLF Kettlebells L1 & L2, OLF Olympic Lifting, PT/Instructor L3, Boxing Pad Work,
Emergency First Aid (L2 QCF), Mental Health Awareness, Child Safeguarding, DBS Checked & up to date sports insurance.

Chris is available for private PT sessions, group classes and sports performance programs (beginners welcome).
